Mating migrated to the poles:
extremities with freezing layers
of glacial ice melting to swell the sea—
two land masses in motion
heaving for displacement,
feeling the ephemeral frictional force
gained in grinding tectonic plates
of coasts who wear a record of where
wandering worlds came to map a new terrain
onto shores forever changed.
But that sandpaper that honed the shores
came and went with the tides,
leaving new landforms with
capes of occupation and inlets of loss.
